Beyond Y2K?
                              by Brother L. Harrell

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.  (Psalms 118:8)

The talk in 1999 is Y2K.  Most of us recognize there is a situation we are faced with to be dealt with.  Our world has become reliant on computers to the point that with out them functioning properly, we can't perform many essential tasks to run our country.  Most computer companies have been negligent over the years, and failed to ensure that the computers and their programs could perform properly several years down the road.  Now many are at state of panic.

The solution for my household to deal with the situation is to stock minimal food supplies. (Enough to last a few days and get through a small natural disaster).  This has been recommended by many Y2K experts, governmental agencies and officials.  I believe following their advise is a prudent thing to do.  Additionally, and most importantly my family and I are staying prayerful, and continuing to obey the Lord's commandments.   That is essentially all I am doing about Y2K.

There are many people, including those who call themselves "Christians", who are "heading for the hills".   Many are turning to psychics to foretell future events.   I believe many of these people are fearful and not properly trusting God for wisdom or relief.  This is what I have to say to them:

You can buy a big farm, stock up on food supplies, and buy guns and knives.  You can dig underground living quarters.  How far will that get you?

What are you going to do when the armed forces come knocking on your door.  Are you going to be smart enough, fast enough and strong enough?  Can you build a big enough stronghold?  You don't know what tomorrow offers.

What is after Y2K?  The debt in this country is so large, that it would take every man, woman and child to pay about $20,000 each to pay the debt.  Are you trusting our monetary system, the retirement fund, the stock exchange or trusting the value of gold?  Do you believe our elected officials have such integrity that they will uphold the constitution no matter what faces them?

Do you trust our military do destroy any large objects falling from space?  Do you trust the all the first & third world leaders to not detonate any nuclear devices?  Do you trust our doctors to cure any and all disease that will come your way?

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."  (2 Timothy 1:7)
Many of us do not need to wait for a future disaster to arrive before we are in distress.  Many of us are in distress now.  Addicted to drugs and alcohol or have family and love ones that are addicted.   Many of us are in severe pain, mental distress, financial turmoil and hopelessness.   And many know after this is all over, after living a life of disobedience and pain, they have to face judgment with God.

We must obey his commandments and put our trust in God.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."  Philippians 4:6 (NASB)

"And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight."  (1 John 3:22)

The Lord can and will heal your sickness or fix your situation.  He can fix any situation and heal any sickness / disease.  God can and will keep you out of harms way.  God can and will break your substance abuse addiction.  God can and will deliver your love ones out of bondage.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 4:19)
Jesus says in Matthew 11:5 "The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them."

We will do even greater works than Jesus did on earth.  God tells us in John 14:12 "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do"

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.  (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Gold, the stock exchange and a Swiss bank account give you limited security.  Bank on God.  God is a bank with endless resources, that never crashes.  He will never leave or forsake you (See Hebrews 13:5).  When you bank on God, you will not need to wonder where your next meal is coming from.  You do not have to worry about a doctor's bill that you can not afford.  He will be your doctor and lawyer.  Trust him to feed, clothe, guide, protect, and heal you.

Repent, obey and have faith.  Trust God.  Visit your local Holiness / Apostolic Pentecostal Assembly where the saints of God are obeying God's commandments and worshiping the one true God.  There you can receive a prayer of faith for whatever form of bondage you are in.

Jesus states in Luke 24:47 "that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations".   We need to fellowship in a Holiness / Apostolic Pentecostal Assembly where there is baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38), hands are laid for receiving the Holy Ghost, with evidence of speaking with tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (Acts 19:6), and hands are laid on the sick and they  recover (Mark 16:18).

Why fellowship in a Holiness / Apostolic Pentecostal Assembly?  Apostle Paul says in Galatians 1:8 (NIV):  "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!"   Fellowship in a Holiness / Apostolic Pentecostal Assembly that continues the faith, teaching, and practice of Jesus Christ and the First Apostles.

"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."  (Matthew 6:31-33)

"So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." (Luke 12:21)
